I appreciate your wisdom and experience in helping me to figure out what directions to take in my practice. Your brilliant wording in what to say and how to say it to my team has been so helpful, too.
I've learned so many tools and strategies to help me on my leadership journey. I've tried so hard to find support and know-how in books or research, but the combination of learning and accountability is the right balance for me to be able to implement and receive feedback on what I'm working on.
I developed my leadership skills over decades of community volunteering and a great corporate career. That’s also where I learned how to take tough feedback and make something of it, something that people still ask me for help with.
As my career evolved and became responsible for others, I realized it takes work to build solid relationships at work, especially when it was up to me to help people turn their performance around. I learned how to host tough conversations without causing damage and that the “team that got you here might not be the team that gets you there.”
I became obsessed with learning how to lead people taking into consideration all the nuances that the workplace includes, and was driven to attract the best people to work alongside me. My success rate in leading teams led to many of my peers often saying aloud, “no wonder that project is so successful, did you see that stacked team she has.”
That’s why I chose the podcast's title, Stacking Your Team which launched over 5 years ago. I consider it my body of work, along with the team and leadership content I create and teach inside the Leadership Lab coaching programs.
I retired early from corporate life and dove into entrepreneurship, stripping down the complexity of corporate tools and concepts and making them work well for small businesses. I’m in awe of women driven to succeed and help others by creating quality employment opportunities, giving back to philanthropic activities or leaning into peer and industry mentorship.
I rise each day with a definite purpose to help you move closer to your definition of success. It’s all about helping you form and nurture a team that gives you more time to focus on your highest-value work, in your business and at home.
